Compare Lasko's 8" and 9" ceramic table top heaters to find the right desk companion. We break down controls, thermostat precision, and value to help you choose.

Quick answer

For most desks, the Lasko 9" Ceramic Heater offers better temperature control with its 11-setting thermostat, while the 8" model wins on simplicity and a lower price. If you want precision, choose the 9"; if you prefer one-touch operation, the 8" is your pick.

Controls: Simple vs Precise

The Lasko 8" Ceramic Table Top Space Heater keeps things straightforward with two steady-on heat settings (high and low) plus a single-touch setting that delivers one hour of high heat. This is ideal if you want quick warmth without fiddling with dials.

The Lasko 9" Ceramic Heater steps up with a thermostat that has 11 precise settings, letting you fine-tune the temperature to your exact comfort level. It also offers a fan-only mode, which can be useful for air circulation on milder days.

Size and Portability

Both heaters are compact and designed for desktops, offices, or dorm rooms. The 8" model is slightly smaller, making it a good fit for tight spaces. The 9" model, while a bit larger, still won't dominate your desk and offers more control options.

Trade-offs at a glance

Simplicity vs control: The 8" model has two heat settings and a one-touch hour of high heat; the 9" model offers 11 thermostat settings and a fan-only mode. Choose based on how much control you want. If you rarely adjust settings, the 8" saves you effort; if you like to fine-tune, the 9" is worth the extra steps.
Price vs features: The 8" model is priced at $36.29 (compare at $54.99), while the 9" model is $29.19 (compare at $39.99). The 9" costs less despite offering more features. The 9" offers better value if you want a thermostat, but the 8" may appeal if you prefer a simpler interface and don't mind paying a bit more.
Size vs footprint: The 8" model is slightly smaller, which can be a plus on cramped desks. The 9" model is still compact but takes up a bit more space. Measure your desk space to ensure the heater fits comfortably without crowding your workspace.
